Terms of Service
The short version. Use it for planning hunts on ground you have a right to hunt. Your records are yours and you can take them with you at any time. This site is never a substitute for reading your own state's regulations.
By creating an account or using Deer Diary you agree to what follows. If you do not, please do not use the service.
What Deer Diary is
A tool for planning hunts: mapping your ground, logging your sits, and ranking your stands using weather, season, habitat and your own recorded history.
It is a planning tool. It needs an internet connection, it is not designed for use in the field, and it is not a navigation, safety or emergency device. Do not rely on it to find your way anywhere.
Hunting regulations are your responsibility
Deer Diary calculates sunrise, sunset and shooting light from an offset you configure in Settings. The default is thirty minutes either side, which is common but not universal.
These figures are a convenience, not a legal authority. Season dates, legal shooting hours, weapon restrictions, tagging and reporting rules vary by state, by county, and from year to year. You are solely responsible for knowing and following the regulations that apply to you, and for confirming you have permission to hunt any ground you map.
Always check your wildlife agency's current regulations. Do not take a shot because an app said the light was legal.
Your account
- You must be 13 or older
- Give an accurate email address — it is how we reach you and how you recover access
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account

Your content stays yours
Everything you put in — properties, stands, logs, deer records, photos, notes — remains yours. We claim no ownership over it.
You grant us only the narrow permission needed to run the service: to store your content, show it back to you, and show it to people you have invited. Nothing further. We do not use your data to train anything, sell it, or publish it.
Settings → Export backup gives you the whole lot as a file, any time.
Sharing with your camp
When you invite someone to a property, they can see and edit everything on it — including deleting stands and logged sits. There is no undo and no audit trail. Invite people you trust, and export a backup now and again.
Only the property owner can invite, remove, rename or delete. Removing someone ends their access immediately but does not delete what they recorded.
Subscriptions and payment
Deer Diary is free for one property with a limited number of stands and photos. A subscription removes those limits and allows sharing.
- $3 per month or $24 per year, billed through Stripe
- The property owner pays. People you invite never pay
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled
- Cancel any time from Settings → Manage billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for
Refunds
Full refund within 30 days, no questions asked. Email [email protected]. After 30 days your subscription runs to the end of its term and then stops.
If a subscription lapses
Nothing is deleted, ever. Your stands, logs, photos and deer records stay exactly as they are, and you keep full access to read, edit and export them. You simply cannot add beyond the free limits until you resubscribe.
Fair use
Do not:
- Map or record ground you have no right to hunt or access
- Use it to trespass, poach, or break wildlife law
- Upload anything unlawful, or anyone else's content without their permission
- Attempt to access other people's data, or probe the service for weaknesses
- Resell or redistribute the service
- Automate bulk requests that degrade it for others

Availability
We will keep it running as reliably as we can, but we make no uptime guarantee. It may be briefly unavailable for maintenance, or because something upstream has broken. Weather data comes from a third-party service and may occasionally be unavailable or wrong.
If we ever have to shut the service down, we will give at least 60 days' notice by email and keep exports working throughout, so nobody loses a season of records without warning.
The ranking is a suggestion
Stand rankings, forecast scans and deer profiles are calculations based on the data you provide and publicly available weather. They are opinions expressed as numbers. Deer do not read them. No result is a prediction or a guarantee of anything.
Liability
Deer Diary is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of it — including missed hunts, lost opportunity, or decisions you made with its help.
Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim. For most people that is 24 dollars, and we say so plainly rather than hiding it in capital letters.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Ending things
You can delete your account at any time — email us and we will do it, along with your data.
We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, particularly anything involving trespass, poaching, or attempting to reach other people's data. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first and give you the chance to export your records.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and for anything significant we will email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules.
